Make it your Minecraft skin.
Shade Edit exports a real 64×64 PNG skin texture for Minecraft players.
Bedrock · Android, iOS & Windows
- 1Download your skin PNG and keep it in Downloads or Files. Do not use a screenshot of the 3D preview.
- 2Open Minecraft and select Dressing Room. Choose a character slot and select Edit Character.
- 3Open Classic Skins, then Owned. Look for Import or Choose New Skin and select the downloaded PNG.
- 4Select the same Classic (wide) or Slim (narrow) model you used in Shade Edit, then equip the skin.
Menu labels can vary by version. Console editions do not offer the same local PNG import workflow. Server rules may restrict custom skins.
Java · Desktop
Open the Minecraft Launcher, select Java Edition, then Skins → New Skin. Give it a name, choose the matching Classic or Slim model, browse to your downloaded PNG, and select Save & Use.
Good to know
Two actual layers, more visual depth
Minecraft has a base layer and an outer layer. Hoods, hair, cuffs and accessory highlights all use the outer layer; there is no third independent Minecraft UV layer.
Real AI, not a perfect guarantee
Image AI attempts a skin atlas. If its output fails UV checks, Shade Edit uses the actual AI image’s sampled colors and a separate AI design plan to map the character onto a valid 64×64 body-part template. This fallback is disclosed in chat. Review every side in 3D: fine details and exact resemblance are not guaranteed. Only validated textures are downloadable.
Private projects, encrypted files
Account records and file decryption keys are stored in your private account key-value store. References and skin files are encrypted in your browser before being uploaded. The storage service can list ciphertext files publicly, not view your original images. Guest work is temporary.
AI limits & storage
Each AI image generation or image edit costs the app owner 1 credit. Limits: 20 image requests per hour, 100 per day, 2 concurrently per app. AI design descriptions use text generation (100 requests/hour on Free). There is no API key for you to enter. Insufficient credits and safety or rate-limit errors are shown directly. Reference images: PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 8 MB. Free file storage: 1 GB and 200 files shared across the app; plan caps apply. Saved images consume encrypted file storage. Removing a conversation deletes its private records and decryption keys; storage reclamation requires the app owner.
Skin questions
Why is the 2D skin a collection of rectangles?
Those rectangles are Minecraft UV faces. The game wraps them around the head, body, arms and legs. A standing character picture is not an importable skin.
Why does my skin look different with slim arms?
Slim arms have three front pixels instead of four. Changing the model remaps the arm faces to the proper width. Match the model in the game when importing.
Can I edit without an account?
Yes. Generate, paint, import and download as a guest. Your work is not permanently saved until you sign in and save a version.
